Day 17

Still tired from Saturday sleepless night.
Last night went to bed at 8 and slept through till 6... but today was still feeling tired. Not the youngest anymore!
Exercise went well, struggled on the pull-ups...
The explanation of the burning during exercises really helps me get through the last ones when in pain!

Day 16

The sail was tough, really!
The race lasted 23 hours and we had a lot of wind and plenty of cold.
Managed to get a nice very intense 30 mins sleep!!

Food was not easy, really required a titanium and carbon fibre will strength, especially when the brownies box came out at 4am in 25/30 knots gusts!
The lads had a good laugh at me while gulping down mars bars, twix, brownies, home made cakes, while i was rabbit like munching my carrots and nibbling my pineapple... Such is PCP life!
For dinner though we made pasta with a no-no sauce (amatriciana, with tomatoes and bacon) and had a no-scale decent helping. For the rest of the race stuck to my guns and think i did ok foodwise.
As soon as i got home skips and exercises, and the rest of the day was spent in a zombie-like state playing with the kiddies.

Day 15

Woke up early.. too early!!
Sleepless and cold night ahead out at sea... and sleepless night before: the new arrival (little puppy, Bolle) kept us "entertained" all night!!
Got up, skipped and exercised...
Feeling a 1,000,000 dollars!!

Right direction but hardly there!!

Now it's time to pack up and head to Brizo (the boat...)

Day 14

800 jumps done and dusted!
not so hard actually.. except for the pain in the calves after the ordeal...
anxious to know what exercises+food await us tomorrow
need to know asap before i take off for my sailing...

Day 13

Yes the title means i am referring to yesterday!
But hardly manage to blog in th evening: that is what work is for!! :-)
Last night the skipping was PAINFUL, my calves were in agony.. stringe as I thought i was rather good at it.
800 skips this evening: bring it on, i am ready for you!

Food is great, feels so much healtheir...
Social life on the other side, is coming to clear halt...
Hopefully when it will resume i will eat less and drink less and feel much better for it!

Day 13

Tried to skip this morning and miserably failed.
The skipping is too loud, even on the terrace so would have to go downstairs but by the time i figured that out it was time to take the boys to the bus.... so a little annoyed at the prospect of doing all tonight a bit too late: such is PCP life!

On a positve note lunch was awesome!!

And the picture was taken after i gulped down half of it!!!

Day 12

Got the skipping out of the way before my gym session and got the rest of the stuff done at home after training.
Separating skipping and exercises makes the whole thing a lot easier: will try and get the skipping done in the morning...

In the evening i often eat a little late and then i have to kind of hang around to let enough time pass before the evening snack.
Confronted with a dilemma: the boys eat a mangoes (a lot of them actually) and leave the stones untouched. It is therefore my job to suck the stones but.. how do I weigh the pulp on them?
Will take a wild guess and err on the side of caution!

This PCP challenge is actually good fun, I see it almost as a competition against myself: will I win?

Day 11

Tough one last night!!
Attended a sailing seminar (very interesting actually, the speaker is a very successful sailor and surprise surprise, if you wanna win you gotta work harder than the rest of your opponents!!) and got back rather late..
Was starving.. but of course had to do all my exercise before dinenr.
Hated the skipping (normally love it) and the lunges (well difficult to ever love those..)
The rest was ok but it was a struggle. Ideally morning exercise is better but.... tough one to crack!

Difficult to wait for the fruit snack in the evening. Will have to eat dinner earlier...

Day 11

Woke up hungry and really enjoyed my breakfast: 2 slices toast, one fried egg (fried with nothing actaully, gret non stick pan), one tomatoe!
Could then hardly wait for my banana fruit snack.. and now really struggling to cope until lunch!!
Have visions of chocolate brownies and ymmy swwet stuff... aarghhh...
But can start to see some results, weight is coming off ad body mass reducing: that's the slow fun part!

last week at the gym: wondering if pcp will be enough to keep me going as the gym sessions are rather intense!

but hoping to learn how to exercise on my own without the need of someone with a whip right next to me...

Day 9

Really enjoy the exercise in the morning on the w/e.
Hope the neighbors cannot heat the skipping...
Dreading the exercise routine during the week.
Thursday out with clients... mmm, going to be tough!
Saturday off for a 30 hour + sailing race, guess will have to prepare a few lunch/dinner boxes!!

Day 8

the exercises are ramping up, and we are scrambling around the house measuring food: thank god it is Saturday!
here is week 2 picture:

Week 2

Guess the half eating and the cutting out of snacks and alcohol is staring to have some effects!

Day 7

Did the 700 hundred jumps in the gym as a warm up
I think i will time how long it takes to jump a certain number of jumps and then just jump for a specific amount of time: i have never counted to such a high number!!

First dinner out with friends since starting PCP: a fantastic Moroccan in Soho. Delicious food.
All in all I think I did eat half of what I would have eaten. Will sleep much better and feel much better than if I had eaten the regular amount. But it was not easy, really!!

The last "half meal"

Got a 30 hours+ sailing regatta coming up next weekend: how will I cope with the PCP exercises?

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

day 5

maybe a bit too much last night: kickboxing + squash + PCP... all of taht between 19:00 and 23:00
but suprisingly not feeling too bad today
moving on i am cutting out gym

anxiously awaiting what is in store for us on the food front

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Day 4

Last night PCP squats + gym squats with weights + lunges today:my quads are aching...
had a bowl of Tom Yang and one of Pomelo for dinner... is that half? I honestly think I would have eaten at least two bowls of soup.... not sure about the pomelo.
The positive is that i have managed to kill (so far at least) intra meal snakes. I used to niggle a lot at work, now, i drink a glass of water or a cup of decaf...

per aspera ad astra

Day 3

Went to the gym and was lucky: my trainer got me to do most of the exercises I would have to do for the PCP. I just stayed an extra 10 mins to finish off the missing ones. Tired now...
Got home to a half portion of salmon and vegetables + mango. It was a great pleasure to eat the dinner but could not believe how fast it went and how little it lasted.
Surely could have eaten 4 times more.
Fitness part so far so good but decided to give up the gym for the next 3 months, just felt i had too much on my plate (I wish it were too much food! :-)).
The big dilemma: exercises tomorrow morning or tomorrow evening?

a domani

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Day 2

I'm hungry
Had half a glass of wine... Is that cheating?
Difficult not to think about food... Will it get better?
Saw a movie with a lot of eating last night: was drooling

Exercise are ok

Friday, January 14, 2011

First round of exercises

I train a lot but somehow the few first exercises came across as tougher than expected: actually broke into a sweat!
tough not to dig into the pasta bowl for a third serving: yes i had two (as i normally would when carbonara is on the table) but each was half size!

Da1 Picture

The evening before the first day!!

Dinner with the wife at the Verandah...
Felt a little like the last meal: the theme of the dinner was "enjoy, none of this for the next 90 days!!"
Campari soda, foie gras, kir royale, steak tartare, beer, grand manier souffle'.... mmm!!!

Killin it!

Vittorio is going to OWN the PCP.  Sweet.
